Atlantic City 1920

Enoch 'Nucky' Thompson was a political figure who rose to prominence and controlled Atlantic City, New Jersey, during the Prohibition period of the 1920s and 1930s. In the mini-series, Nucky interacts with several historical figures in both his personal and political life, including mobsters, politicians, government agents, and the common folk. Prohibition in a Wide Open Town Prohibition went into effect nationwide at midnight January 16, 1920. This law made it illegal to make or sell liquor (including beer and wine), but Americans drank anyway, going to secret clubs or “speakeasies” or making 'bathtub gin' at home.
